Warning: Misc Yada Rambling Ahead With Little Point Other Than To Prove I Am A Dork! LOL
So I was sitting here answering email and listening to a Ustream show when I looked over and just felt myself smile. What made me smile? This:
Not “the stuff” but the glow of it. The sun was coming through the window just right to hit the back of the clear drawers and my whole room just glowed for a short moment with color. Pinks and blues and greens.. Don’t really know how to explain it and I am sure it makes me sound like a total dork but ya know, my stuff… it makes me happy. I know your thinking its a material thing but its not. Ok so maybe a little but seriously.. Ever just wander through your scrapbooking stuff and smile because its so pretty? Or so colorful? A jar of buttons… there is just something happy about a jar of colorful buttons.
Doesn’t this one look like there are lights IN the drawers? LOL Anyways…
I get the same joy in the mornings when I wander out to turn on the water and a new rose has bloomed out and for just a short moment in time the morning sun hits it just right and it explodes with happy color. It just looks like its reaching up and out to specifically say “GOOD MORNING” to me.
When I think of my son I think of happy color. Not because he is so “colorful” in himself but because he is happy. He is always happy. Smiling for no reason happy. Or maybe there is a reason lol and the smile is because only he knows it. It doesn’t matter the reason, its just that he is.. Hes like a walking jar of colorful buttons. No matter how the day is going, he is happy and that makes me happy.
I got to thinking the other day… Ya know.. I like to make things but its not the part of this hobby I like the most.. I like to collect happy. I like to collect things that make me smile. It doesn’t have to be the latest and the greatest.. Just something that says to me no matter how bad your day is going you HAVE to smile when you look at me cuz I am, after all, a jar of happy colorful buttons…
I have been working on this art project for 2 weeks. NOTHING takes me 2 weeks so you can tell its kicking my hiney. Frankly kind of proud of myself that I haven’t tossed it yet lol. But anyways this goes along with the last post about the mini roses. These are just bits and pieces I made to go with my “art” project…
I used the same punch as the one I used for the mini roses. Its the 6 petal flower punch by All Night Media Inc. (Its about 15 + years old so no clue where to get it etc.. but I would think there had to be something close out there to it). Anyways the 4 dark brown flowers were made using the scalloped crinkled flower technique. Basically I punched out 4 layers. Wet them down till soggy and poked a tiny brad thru all 4 layers. Scrunched them up around the center one layer at a time and let it dry. If you need a link to how to make these let me know and I will dig one up for you. Usually you see these made with the Stampin Up scalloped circle punch. Then I stuck a pearl in the middle because I had used funky colored brads and well they didnt go with what I was “feeling” for this project lol.Oh and I made them using kraft paper. I put a kraft paper rose in there so you could see what color they were before I glimmer misted them. Sorry they are so dark. Its dark in here tonight. If you would like a lighter and brigher up close of them let me know and I will post a new photo tomorrow. After I made them and they were completely dry I glimmer misted them with Creme de Chocolat ( have to say I am not feeling this color. I like Suede better but I didnt want to waste it on this project. Actually I love the brown in this just dont like the silvery glimmer). I had tried to dye the brads with alcohol inks but the paper sucked it up before it hit the brads lol so thats why they have darker centers. The Alcohol ink color is Latte.
And since I had the alcohol ink out already I had to mess with that too. Tracy had given me a bunch of these pearl pins ( which I LOVE) and so I thought hmmmm wonder if they will color? And O M G they did. You can see the original color on the right and the colored version on the left. Arent they beautiful!! I had to do a row of pearls I had to. BUT learned something. The clear sticky that holds the pearls in a line also dyed so uh not really what I was going for. Will have to cut close around the pearls to get rid of it.
Then I took one of the Color Me Crazy wild roses from Petaloo and sprayed with with Glimmer mist Crushed Shells. Don’t let the label fool you on this. ITS NOT PEACH! Its one of my favorite colors for antique’n stuff. WAY better that Wheatfield. No green glimmer!
Anyways… haven’t been creating much of anything these days. Busy Busy Busy with life stuff I guess. Joshua’s school Lessons, catching up with house stuff after the hubby was off for FIVE days, etc… Life is just busy so I am just pokin at my craftin lol. Rest of the month will be a lot like this as Joshua is taking an Art Class and will have us on the go 3 days a week (can you hear my suburban fuel bill go SLURP!) But he is so excited. Now if they would just get WiFi at the Community center I would be set! More than ya’ll ever wanted to know isnt it lol
